Build models of our varied estate – and your future

If you’re looking for a place where you can grow your skills and career, you’ll be right at home at the Met. As part of our Property Services team, you’ll use your BIM expertise to help us manage our varied and extensive estate. It’s a chance to join a specialist unit where you’ll be free to learn, develop and build a future. And, at the same time, you’ll be supporting a team that keeps London safe for millions of people.

The Operational Support Group provides construction-related logistical, engineering and surveying support to front line police operations 24/7/365. As a Higher BIM Technician, you’ll join the Group’s Building Information Modelling team, which looks after 2D CAD and 3D BIM models of our estate. Working in newly refurbished, state-of-the-art offices in central London, you’ll help to generate accurate models from existing plans or survey data.

It’s a great opportunity to improve digital data management and information quality within Property Services. You’ll help the Building Information Project Manager to develop BIM strategy and achieve project milestones. You’ll also develop Revit modelling capability, uphold BIM best practice and act as a technical advisor. Whatever the task, you’ll have access to the latest technologies including mobile mapping solutions and Virtual Reality systems.

An experienced BIM professional, you can produce Revit models from existing CAD plans, survey data and as-built buildings. You’re also up to speed with Autodesk Revit and Navisworks. Whatever your background, you’ll have worked with ISO 19650 and associated BIM standards, supporting the adoption of BIM processes and the exchange of COBie data between the Revit model and estate management software. And naturally, you’ll have the integrity and professionalism to manage sensitive Met data. Please note that this role requires enhanced SC security vetting.
