Swap the day to day for the anything but (or) Help us tell the public what they need to know

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is crucial to our national security and one of its operations — Operation Verbasco — is focused on the poisonings in Salisbury and Amesbury in support of an upcoming public enquiry. The operation’s dedicated Major Incident Room (MIR) is responsible for receiving, reviewing and indexing all material gathered. It’s a borderless team working across CTP from London to Thames Valley, and it’s here that you could get involved in something that’s far from day-to-day policing.

MIRs are involved in counter terrorism major investigations, and with tasking investigators to drive and direct subsequent investigations. As a key part of the team, you’ll maintain the designated indices on CT Holmes. It will see you cross-reference information, raise actions for the investigation teams and identify any opportunity for intelligence development. In addition, while you’ll be based within SO15, you’ll have the chance to work with the wider team as part of the National Counter Terrorism Policing Network.

To join us, you’ll either need to be familiar with CT Holmes or keen to be trained in it. If you’ve worked within a CT MIR before, that would be an advantage. It’s more important, though, that you have the attention to detail needed to deal with large volumes of information across multiple operations, coupled with good IT skills. Beyond this, you should be happy to work long hours at short notice on occasion.

It’s challenging work, but uniquely rewarding. You can also look forward to opportunities for career development plus a wide range of benefits.

Job Summary
