Royalty and Specialist Protection (RaSP) Close Protection teams are part of the Metropolitan Police and have a national responsibility for the armed personal security of the Royal Family, Government Ministers and visiting VIPs. They are London based but with travel across the UK and overseas.

We are looking for dynamic officers who have a strong track record of delivery across a variety of environments and are both willing and able to work towards RaSP’s objectives within a culture of change and in line with MPS values and principles.

Work Involves

Planning and delivery of armed protection operations in the UK and overseas; collaborating with stakeholders to achieve joint delivery of agreed objectives; ensuring compliance with mandatory training.

Eligibility

Substantive Police Constables who are current nationally qualified protection officers.

Essential Criteria

• NPOC trained and currently up to date with all training
• Current in Ballistic ELS (D.13)
• Current in PPST
• Response or Advanced Driver
• Fully Operational

Desirable Criteria

• Vetted to SC/MV or MV/DV. Successful applicants will be on boarded with SC/MV and will then be required to complete DV/MV on arrival at RaSP.

We will be holding an insight session to provide more detail about the respective transferee and selection process.

Selection Process & Timeline (this may flexible depending on number of applications received)

• Closing Date is Friday 19th September
• Verify Chronical Training Record
• Attendance management Review
• PDR Review
• Values and CVF based interview with HR – successful applicants will then proceed to the 2 day assessment
• Close Protection assessment
• Post Selection Pre-employment checks:
• Medical
• Fitness/JRFT
• Vetting

Details of timescales for the transferee process will be provided at the insight sessions. A recording will be available if unable to attend. Please email RaSP Mailbox – Transferee Recruitment to request this or for any other general enquiry.

The 2 day assessment is mandatory and you will be required to attend and pass this in order to progress. Please consider this when applying and allow flexibility with engagements during this period in order to attend. RaSP will provide overnight accommodation for 1 night during this assessment.

Please note that RaSP will be unable to on-board you until SC/MV has been completed. The timescales for vetting may vary depending on individual circumstances.
